The act contains the music
of ‘The Commitments’,‘Stevie Wonder’ and ‘The Blues
Brothers’ amongst others.
‘Soul Reason’ consists of a number of top quality local musicians
and music teachers from the Newcastle area.Each of the six members
of ‘Soul Reason’ has performed in established North Eastern bands
such as, ‘The Dans’, and are vastly experienced in the performance
of live music.
‘Soul Reason’ has been performing around the north east for over a
year and are fast establishing themselves as the premier soul act in
the North East.
Guy Adams-Lead Vocals
Originally from Edinburgh, Guy has been living in Newcastle now for
about 10 years and has been singing for about 5. Guy was the singer
of the ‘Hotrock House Band’ established at Newcastle Music College,
and after the close of the band Edward Carr recalled Guy to front
his new project, which later became ‘Soul Reason’.
Edward Carr-Guitar &
Backing Vocals
Edd is a former member of the well known and highly successful
‘Hotrock House Band’ along with Guy and John. Edd is currently
studying for a degree in Jazz, Popular and Commercial Music at
Newcastle Music College.
John Kinghorn-Saxophone
John is a well known and well established member of the North East
music scene, having played in highly successful bands such as the
earlier mentioned ‘Hotrock House Band’ and more recently ‘The Dans’.
After completing a course at Newcastle Music College John has now
moved into further education, completing training to become a
qualified music teacher.
Dan Gray-Bass Guitar
Dan began playing the bass with ‘The Dans’ and more recently has
established himself as the frontline bass player of ‘Soul Reason’.
Dan has played with ‘Soul Reason’ since the very beginning of the
band 3 years ago and will be sorely missed when he moves to London
in the near future.
Mark Beaney-Keyboards
Mark began playing the piano at a very early age and progressed
through the classical grades before moving onto the guitar. Mark is
currently studying music at the Liverpool Institute of Performing
Arts and is regarded as one of the best young musicians in the
country. Mark’s main instrument is the guitar but this does not stop
him from performing regularly as the fast fingered keyboard player
of ‘Soul Reason’.
Adam Beaney-Drums
Adam is the youngest member of ‘Soul Reason’ at just 18. Adam began
his musical career on the piano before progressing onto the drum
kit. Adam completed the highest grade on the instrument at 15 and
his since began teaching. He played in the popular funk band
‘Slapjack’ and hopes to follow his brother Mark, to the Liverpool
Institute of Performing Arts after a successful audition.
