Spy Candy are three guys
and three girls (Harmony, Rhapsody & Melody), who give
the band both male and female lead singers, plus up to
four backing singers.
Female lead vocals
Male lead vocals, plus
guitar, keyboard and percussion
Female bass guitar/vocals
Male lead guitar/vocals
Male keyboard/vocals
Female drummer
The band is FULLY LIVE - what the audience hears all
comes from the musicians on stage.
Costumes - are from the
Austin Power's and Charlie's Angels movies, along with
more costume changes during the show. Sticking with the
spy film theme, we also have a special guest appearance
from agent 007 Bosely Williams (Robbie's big brother)
who performs a "Millennium" sequence of Robbie Williams
songs and who is then joined by guest Kylie Men-Oggle
for "Kids".
Based in the North West of
England, we perform all over the UK as well as abroad.
Gear - 4000 watt Ad Lib PA
system with a 20 channel mixing desk. We use equipment
from the latest hi-tech stuff to ancient valve
amplifiers, with Fender guitars and Korg and Roland
Keyboards. Fully self-contained and requiring only
standard power points.
Light Show -
We provide a light show, which can include smoke
(specially fire alarm compatible!) - all optional to
suit the venue and the audience.
History - Five of the guys and gals in the band
have been playing in working bands for many years.
Dave ("Charlie") has been playing in bands since the
60's, and appeared on Granada TV with his band in 1968
(before Charlie's Angels in 1976!). He also taught the
younger ones all he knows - which took about 10 minutes.
Lynn ("Harmony") has
been playing the bass since she was 9 years old and
appeared on National TV in "New Faces", along with her
brother
Dave ("Austin")
in the same band. Dave
was also an original member of the boyband 'Our Kid' who
had a number 2 hit in 1976 with "You Just Might See Me
Cry" and both Lynn and Dave have been in bands with Ian
McNabb (Icicle Works) and Chris Sharrock (now Robbie
Williams' drummer).
Samantha ("Rhapsody")
can't
be parted from her drum kits for more than a few days
and has been playing them for many years.
Neil ("Dr Evil")
is classically trained and has been playing
keyboards for 15 years and been in working bands for 10
years.
Although
Kelly ("Melody") is
the youngest member of the band, she has already worked
as a session singer at Pete Waterman studios.
Spy Candy are an ideal
band choice for your James Bond party or 007 themed
event. The theme songs from the James Bond movies are
magnificent and memorable, but in themselves they don't
provide a good choice if you are looking for a
dancing/party atmosphere. Its not a good idea to play
these songs unless you want your audience to remain
seated. We have performed many Bond theme nights and our
playlist will work far better.
Our broad Spy Movie
approach - covering James Bond, Austin Powers, Mission
Impossible and Charlie's Angels - fits in perfectly,
along with more specific things such as opening with
Paul McCartney's Live & Let Die, good use of an up tempo
version of the 007 guitar riff theme and a Robbie
Williams Millennium dance medley. Additional costumes
from the Bond Movies' characters are also added - but
you win a prize if you can tell the difference between
the evil villain Blofeld in You Only Live Twice and Dr
Evil from Austin Powers - complete with identical cat!
