Harriet
has played at weddings, parties and corporate events for the last
eight years in venues all across the country including St James'
Palace, National Trust Houses, Royal Horticultural Society Gardens
and major London Hotels.
Harriet has
performed for everyone from Royalty and Nobility to people in
hospitals or retirement homes and have been the featured musician in
several bridal magazines.
She
studied harp with
Daphne Boden at the Junior Department of the Royal College of Music
and later at Balliol College, Oxford where she held the Richard
Lewis Nettleship Instrumental Exhibition and continued studies with
Imogen Barford at Trinity College of Music, generously supported by
a Musician's Benevolent Fund Music Education Award, a Countess of
Munster Scholarship and a Martin Musical Fund Scholarship.
As a soloist Harriet has performed in many major venues such as St
James' Piccadilly, St Martin’s-in-the-Fields and St John’s Smith
Square. Recent appearances include touring Cyprus with the Girl
Choristers of Exeter Cathedral as their guest soloist, a performance
of Handel's Harp Concerto with the Ten Tors Orchestra under the
direction of Simon Ible and playing at the Eighth World Harp
Congress in Geneva.
In addition to her busy solo career Harriet also enjoys working as
an orchestral musician and has played with many orchestras including
The National Youth Sinfonia, The Exeter Symphony Orchestra,
Dartington Festival Orchestra and The Amadeus Orchestra.
When
choosing the type of music to have at your special celebration it is
definitely worthwhile considering the rich melodic tone of the harp.
Not only will it bring an added touch of glamour and sophistication
to any room with its elegant and ornate curves, but it also provides
the perfect music either to listen to or talk over, being neither
too loud nor too soft. Harriet plays a wide variety of music
catering for all tastes and occasions with a range of classical
pieces such as Schubert's Ave Maria and Pachabel's Canon in D; jazz
favourites like Gershwin's The Man I Love and Frank Sinatra's Fly Me
to the Moon; popular songs such as the theme from Titanic; and well
loved folk-tunes such as Greensleeves..
Wherever possible Harriet tries to coordinate her dress with the
colour scheme of the room, and if you have a special wish for an
accessory such as angel wings and a halo I will endeavour to comply
with that too!
Other combinations are availabe such as Harp, Soprano, Oboe, Violin
and even Harp Duet. So if you were looking for unique entertainment
with which to captivate your guests, there is something for everyone
!
