This 5 piece, with unique instrumentation, offer quick-witted arrangements that encapsulate the best of hot jazz sensibilities. Watch them shuffle and boogie with flair and brio, evoking the energy of that bygone era. Their repertoire includes a vibrant and fresh interpretation of many jazz standards of the 1920s and 30s. Heavily influenced by legends of the era, such as Fats Waller, Louis Armstrong, Cab Calloway and the Washboard Rhythm Kings, David McTea and the Swinging Magpies show a true appreciation and love of the craft and artistry of trad jazz and swing.

David is also an accomplished swing and jazz dancer, entertaining the masses and fully convinced that it don't mean a thing if it aint got that swing! Such gifts add an aura of excitement and showmanship to performances and David is always more than happy to provide a friendly and fun dance lesson to break the ice and get your night off to a swinging start.
