HARRIET

Harriet

Harriet was an Instrumental Exhibitioner at Balliol College, Oxford where she read Music. Before this she was a student of Daphne Boden at the Royal College of Music Junior Department where she was successful in many competitions. She continued her studies with Imogen Barford at Trinity College of Music, supported by awards from the Musician’s Benevolent Fund, the Countess of Munster Musical Trust and the Martin Musical Scholarship Fund.

As a soloist she has given many recitals at major London venues including St Martin’s-in-the-Fields, the National gallery and St James’s Palace. She has appeared at the Swaledale Festival, toured the Mediterranean aboard the QE2, and has performed concertos with orchestras including the Dart Festival Orchestra and the Ten Tors Orchestra. As part of her award from the Martin Musical Fund, she toured with the Unicorn Theatre Project / Philharmonia Orchestra for their production of the opera Clockwork, culminating in performances at the Linbury Studio Theatre, Covent Garden. More recently she was awarded 2nd Prize at the hotly contested London Harp Competition and also performed with the Philharmonia Orchestra for their Music Of Today series at the QEH. Harriet has worked regularly with many orchestras including the Philharmonia, the Orchestra of the Swan and the Northern Sinfonia.

A keen chamber musician, she is a founding member of the award-winning 4 Girls 4 Harps, who's music has been broadcast on Classic FM and BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 3. They have played at many prestigious venues such as St James’s Piccadilly and St George’s Bristol, and were invited to perform at the 9th World Harp Congress in Dublin.

On the lighter side Harriet has played in all the major London Hotels including Claridges, The Ritz and the Dorchester Hotel, she has dressed up as an angel to appear at Fabric Night Club, performed on the BRIT Awards, duetted live on TV with Dermot O'Leary on Channel 4's Celebrity Big Brother, toured with the QE2 cruise ship, and performed for BBC 1's Songs of Praise. Her repertoire is enormously varied and she is happy to take requests with advance warning, and where possible, on the day.

Madeleine and Toby, Your playing provided a lovely warmth to the proceedings

Thank you so much for playing so beautifully at Madeleine and Toby's wedding on Sunday - both at the Chuppah and at the reception.

It really helped to create a beautiful atmosphere, for the Chuppah in particular. I know that the reception was really noisy, but even so,  your playing provided a lovely warmth to the proceedings.

David and Lourdes, Thank you for playing so beautifully at our wedding

I am so sorry that I did not get to see you and thank you for playing so beautifully at our wedding.

Both Lourdes and myself have been so blessed with meeting so many lovely people while arranging our wedding and making it a perfect and memorable day.

Thank you once again and I would be happy to recommend you to anyone who is looking for a harpist to play at their wedding.

Sarah and John, It was so exactly what we wanted and simply sublime in its execution

Sarah and I wanted to contact you and offer our belated but sincere thanks for the amazing job you did for us on our Wedding day at the Ashmolean in August.

We and our guests were blown away by the setting and the atmosphere created by your wonderful playing during our ceremony, It was so exactly what we wanted and simply sublime in its execution, thank you so very much.

Peter, I received numerous comments on how lovely the harp music was

Thank you so much for playing on Monday.  Afterwards, I received numerous comments on how lovely the harp music was, and how appropriate.  I think it had a major effect in setting the right atmosphere.

Marie and James , The music was lovely and was the perfect touch to the Ceremony.

Thank you for playing at our ceremony. James loved the Gaga song!! The music was lovely and was the perfect touch to the Ceremony. I will definitely recommend you to any friends having a wedding in the future.

Many Thanks,

Marie and James (2012)
