Last night I went to see Sonja sing live for the first time. I already knew she was good from hearing a recording once but I was blown away by hearing her live.
She did two sets. The first was Adele covers which she did very well, sending shivers down my spine at one stage. However, her second act was even better.
The power in her voice that was apparent but seemed to be kept within check in the first act was unleashed as she entertained and played with the crowd. She got a host of us up on the floor with classic after classic.
I would recommend Sonja for any event at which people want to get up and strut their stuff, be entertained, sing along or just listen.
Sonja Galsworthy, you're amazing. Keep doing what you do so well!

“For me, AfroSamba are one of the finest Brazilian bands in the UK today. They have the perfect mix of all the best Brazilian music past and present - Brazilian Jazz, Samba Rock, Bossa Nova and MPB (Musica Popular Brasileira). In Pilo Adami, they have a great singer in the tradition of Jorge Ben, Caetano Veloso, Chico Buarque and Edu Lobo. Not only is he a great musician but also a young Brasileiro who knows and loves his musical heritage. With the addition of virtuoso African drummer Elias Kacomanolis driving the band, the rhythm section locked down by jazz musicians Aron Kyne (piano) and Alex Hewes (bass), they are the perfect hard-hitting but also soulful small Brazilian combo. Ideal for big festival stages and small intimate nightclubs. I have booked them in the past for both and they have never come up short. Definitely worth checking out if you love Brazilian music.”
